Omnicom Agencies Take Top Spot Third Year in a Row
Feb 07, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ — Omnicom Group Inc. agencies led USA Today’s 2006 Super Bowl Ad Meter, capturing all 10 of the top 10 spots.
Super Bowl XL also marked the 13th year since 1989 that Omnicom agencies have created the top rated commercial in USA Today’s Super Bowl Ad Meter. The top rated commercial of this year’s Super Bowl was “Magic Fridge.” Created by the Chicago office of DDB Worldwide, the commercial features a refrigerator stocked with Bud Light and the ability to disappear behind a revolving wall. In total, DDB had eight commercials in the top ten while sibling agency BBDO Worldwide captured the remaining top 10 spots for FedEx and Sierra Mist, respectively.
BBDO’s spot for FedEx, featuring a caveman trying to send the first FedEx package by dinosaur, took the No. 3 spot, and the No. 4 slot went to Sierra Mist for a spot featuring Kathy Griffin as an airport security worker who “beeps” a passenger in order to get his Sierra Mist.
USA Today created the Super Bowl Ad Meter in 1989 to electronically gauge consumer opinions and reactions about the big game’s commercials.
